Gastric Hypomotility

(Motility Problems)

When I say "motility problems" I am referring to gastrointestinal problems. What this really means, is that my stomach is not digesting my food properly. Let me explain this:

I eat food, it goes down and gets to my stomach. When it gets to my stomach, my stomach should start digesting (breaking it down) right away. Instead, my stomach just sits there and does nothing. So my food gets to my intestines not digested. My intestines get very confused, and start contracting A LOT to try to make up for the job that wasn't done in my stomach. This gives me horrible stomach aches. Interestingly enough, digestion is controlled by the autonomic nervous system. This system is also the system that controls blood pressure, heart rate, etc...So it seems that my entire autonomic nervous system is out of whack, affecting not only my blood pressure, but my stomach as well.
