NMH

NMH stands for neurally mediated hypotension. Some of you may have heard of hypERtension, which means very high blood pressure. In my case, it is the exact opposite. My blood pressure is very low. This happens, because my brain isn't telling my autonomic nervous system (the system in the body that controls blood pressure and other things) to function the right way.

What I mean by this, is that, when a normal person stands up for long periods of time, their brain automatically says, hey I've got to pump the blood up from your legs so it doesnt stay down there! In my case, blood pools in my legs if I stand up for too long, because my brain doesn't tell my body to pump the blood back up to my head. My body just isn't circulating my blood the way that it should.

A normal persons blood pressure is usually 120/80. My normal blood pressure is around 90 or lower.

This causes me to be fatigued, dizzy, ect.
