Who
Am I?
My
name is Lauren, and I'm 19 years old. I graduated from high school in
June of 2004. I've been sick with a patchwork of chronic illnesses for
over 4 years. I was a social butterfly with lots of friends before I
got sick in 2001. With the help of some new medication changes, I'm
more myself than I have been since the begginning of this crazy journey.
Helping
others, especially chronically ill teens and young adults is one of
my greatest passions. I'm very enthusiastic about doing everything that
I can to connect with others who are in need of help. I'm very empathetic,
and consider myself a loving and supporting individual.
I
have Neurally Mediated Hypotension (NMH), Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia
Syndrome (POTS), Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS), Pelvic Congestion,
Gastric Hypomobility, and Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). In December
of 2004, I was diagnosed with Lyme Disease. Amazingly, Lyme could be
the cause of all my other chronic illnesses, and with treatment, I could
recover to a point where illness no longer rules my life.
Although
those are the illnesses focused on in this website, all teenagers with
any kind of illness are welcome.
